Nike Magista

On May 6 of 2014 Nike released the new age of football boots. The radical new Magista changes everything that we once knew about football boots.

“Our aim at Nike has always been to meet the athlete’s particular performance demands and amplify his unique set of skills. Magista inherits that transformative history of design and innovation and supercharges it,” comments Mark Parker, NIKE, Inc. CEO and President.

Born from four years of R&D in the Nike Sport Research Lab and with feedback from some of the world’s best attacking playmakers, including Barcelona’s AndrĂ©s Iniesta and German forward Mario Gotze, the Magista is designed to enable devastating creativity in a game where space is at a premium.

Simply put the Magista is the footballer’s greatest tangible asset when it comes to gameplay. Its knit technology allows for the boot to “hug” the player’s foot. Never before has this been seen on a football pitch. This technology allows for unprecedented feel, fit and control by creating a second-skin, sock-like feel.

  1. The design looks like it shapes to your whole foot comfortably, they have a new age design that I've seen in basketball shoes. It would give more support for your ankles and Achilles tendons when making quick lateral movements, which are used a lot for soccer. I can see a lot of players switching to these over the traditional low top cleat.

  2. The design of the shoe looks really sweet. It seems that Nike was aiming to develop a shoe that felt like nothing was there. As you said, it is suppose to fit like a sock, or a second skin.

It was also worn and used by professional athletes so that Nike could: 1) get feedback about the performance/comfort ability, and 2) give the shoe credibility.

  3. I don't know if these shoes will make you a better soccer player but they sure do look cool and seems to provide the mental confidence that is so necessary for professional athletes when it come to what gear they wear. The shoes also look like they give more support compared to the low top cleats.

  4. I am a nike finatic and when it comes to sports, nike in my opinion has the best gear. I dont like how they are basically boots and fit around the ankle, being a skilled player, it makes you feel like your being weighed down wearing these rather than wearing low cut shoes. If they made these in the low cut version i would definitely get them because they fly knits shoes feel absolutely comfortable so i could only imagine how they would feel when playing a sport in them.
