My thought is, why does google want this? I think the technology is obviously innovative and will be a great help to people that need it.

There are definitely countless reasons as to how this company could prove useful to Google. The product above is a form of cancellation technology, which we can find all around us already. A common small form of this was the "anti-skip" feature that came on the now ancient portable cd players and is now built into any vehicle or laptop cd/dvd players.(Google is quite interested in portable electronics) Another example and probably one of the most productive forms of cancellation technology is the suspension system on our cars. (Google is experimenting with driverless cars) Those are just a few ideas that came to mind.
ReplyDeleteThere could be a variety of reasons why Google invests their time and resources into projects such as the Lift Tabs. Google desires to be in almost every industry--technology, Internet, cars, television, and now apparently healthcare/consumer products.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it's hard to pinpoint exactly why, it may be more necessary to ask: why not?
Google is one of the largest and most profitable U.S. businesses in the country. They reek havoc on other businesses that try to compete. They're even giving Apple a hard time in the smartphone industry.
If you have the financial ability to advance technology and the lives of consumers, then why not purchase the small organizations that can help lead you there?
